Who
We Are

We are a dedicated team committed to promoting social justice and human rights in Zimbabwe.

MISSION & HISTORY.

Recognising the challenges faced by marginalised communities, such as limited access to resources, lack of representation, and systemic injustices, as well as the limited technical expertise that supports public institutions to fulfil their various mandates necessary for the fulfilment and promotion of human rights, the ISEJ was founded. It is thus dedicated to providing expert legal and scientific backed research and training to rights holders and duty bearers in response to the ever-pressing need for social justice and human rights protection and fulfilment in Zimbabwe.

Our initiatives focus on grassroots movement training, working closely with local organisations to amplify their voices and concerns by providing expert research services. ISEJ has developed a robust framework for capacity-building training, equipping individuals with the skills to demand accountability from public institutions effectively. Our commitment to evidence-backed research has enabled us to monitor and evaluate the performance of these institutions across various sectors, advocating for policies that uphold human rights and social justice.

As we continue to grow, ISEJ remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities, promote human rights, and foster a culture of accountability in Zimbabwe. Through collaborative efforts with local and international partners, we aim to create sustainable change that uplifts and empowers all members of society.

Our mission is to enable marginalized groups, including grassroots organizations and young women, to advocate for their rights through education and research. We strive to hold public institutions accountable and promote human rights, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Through collaboration with local and international partners, we aim to create sustainable change and foster a culture of accountability in Zimbabwe

Our
Context
.

The Institute for Sustainable Empowerment and Justice (ISEJ) operates primarily in Zimbabwe and across Africa, focusing on the region's unique legal, social, and economic landscapes. Our work addresses the needs of marginalized and rural communities throughout various provinces, where access to justice and essential services is often constrained.

We actively engage with local laws and policies, advocating for reforms that promote social justice and uphold human rights. We aim to create relevant and impactful solutions that empower communities and foster sustainable change by ensuring our initiatives align with the Zimbabwean legal framework as well as regional and international best standards.
